background

Memorial Hermann Health System is a large not-for-profit health system in southeast Texas consisting of consists of hospitals, Cancer Centers, Heart & Vascular Institutes, sports medicine and rehabilitation centers, in addition to other outpatient and rehabilitation centers.

Challenge

The digital engagement with Memorial Hermann entailed navigating and responding to multiple stakeholders with varying desired outcomes. At a base level, we were asked to create a minimally viable product for single-sign on user portal and new (directional) visual design system for their digital assets.

design approach

I co-led the Fjord design project team to create a minimum viable product for their patient portal. A proposed design system was designed for a connected and simplified experience that would help patients and customers navigate complexities of healthcare, while bringing currently fragmented digital ecosystem under one roof. The design is meant to evolve, as the future needs of the Memorial Hermann digital ecosystem and its users emerge in subsequent phases.

Additional project artifacts included personas, high-level solution concepts, prototype and brand guidelines (for a proposed design system). Secondary desktop research and co-creation workshops were an integral part of the process of unearthing insights that informed our work.
